This is a full genuine rebuild kit containing everything needed to fully rebuild the BMW 188LW differential. This kit fits differentials from most 6 cylinder vehicles which use ball bearings. Use this kit for most late model 1-series, 2-series, 3-series, 4-series, 5-series, 6-series, 7-series and X-series BMWs with the common diff bearing failure. This includes most 6 cylinder E81, E82, E87, E88, F21, F21, F22, F45, F46, E90, E92, F30, 125i, 130i, 325i, 330i, 135i (early automatic only), 5-series, 7-series, E70 X5 vehicles with the ball bearing type differential. These differentials often suffer noise, differential failure and bearing failure. Now it's possible to fix your noisy 188LW sized diff. This is a much better option versus a used differential which may not last, and is often cheaper too. Diff Lab rebuilds these diffs in-house and offers these diffs on exchange. This is the most complete kit available anywhere in the world, and it is the cheapest.

The kit includes:

  • 4x genuine ball bearings
  • genuine crush sleeve
  • genuine lock plate
A 188K and 188LW shim kit is not included, but this would be required if you are changing the ring and pinion, or adding an LSD. You could not re-assemble the diff without a shim kit if you're using non-original internals. Your pre-loads and backlash will be way off target, and you risk permanent damage to the differential. No locally sourced Chinese made seals are stocked or supplied at Diff Lab.
